Creative, diverse, lively — experience culture in Erfurt

Even if you might not expect it at first glance, Erfurt can be loud and colourful. The alternative cultural scene in particular has picked up speed in recent years, and festivals such as Kocolores, which stands for cosmopolitanism and tolerance, attract a wide audience.

In Erfurt you can experience live music indoors and out. The large open-air concerts on the Cathedral Square or at Petersberg Citadel are real highlights and magically attract onlookers. The Fête de la Musique, which takes place every year on 21 June, transforms the old town into a large open-air stage. Young and old come together to dance, celebrate and laugh. What would Erfurt be without its festivals and markets, especially the Christmas Market and the Oktoberfest?
